Now that we have our zones and carriers set-up, you can now set up how much you will charge your customers for shipping based on the order weight to the different Zones. (Remember the weight is calculated from what you input for each product and its attributes)
The heavier the package and typically the further away the customers delivery destination is from you, the higher will be the carrier charges.
Theerfore, you will want to make sure you charge your customers the right prices for shipping.
This is a two-step process:
First, create the weight ranges by going to Back Office >> Shipping >> Weight ranges. The default page will show you what weight ranges already exist, whcih you can edit.

In our example, each weight range is increased by 1Kg (if grammes, half a Kg would be 500g). Select "Add New".

Carrier: Choose the carrier you want from the drop down list
From: Enter the weight "from"
To: Enter to max weight for this range
Click Save.
Continue this process fro each weight range you will want to have a price for, remembering to make sure no two weight are the same. For example if one weight range ends at 2kg, make the next range start weight from 2.001kg
Tip: When dealing with weights there are really two main options, lbs and Kilogrammes. When you need to deal with grammes, you will likley have to configure your weights as follows
Grammes (Not fully supported)
0 to 250g => $1
251 to 500g => $2
501 to 1000g => $5
1001 to 2500 g => $6
2501 to 4000 g => $7
Kilogrammes (Therefore configure weights like this to cater for grammes and kilogrammes)
0 to 0.250 => $1
0.251 to 0.500 => $2
0.501 to 1 => $5
1.001 to 2.500 => $6
2.001 to 3.000 => $7
Version (1.1 - Dec 08) - There is currently a reported bug in this version that results in the shipping cost being set to zero when the total weight exceeds 1000
Next, you assign a shipping cost to each weight range that we’ve just created. It may seem a little odd, but to do this you need to Click back on the main shipping tab.
