Attributes and groups

Creating an attribute group
Adding attributes to a group
Create variations of a product with attributes
Using the Product combinations generator

Attributes and attribute groups provide the flexibility to allow you to create different variations, models, packs and combinations of your products.

Attributes can be configured in several ways. For example you could have a colour group allowing users to choose the colour of the product you are selling, you could also create different volumes (quantities) allowing you to sell one piece at the base price, a pack of 5 for 5 euros less or a pack of 10 for 15 euros less for example).

Note: Attribute groups should not be confused with the attributes options on your actual product, First, you create the attribute groups and the attribute options that will belong to this group, and once created, within products>>attributes you would specify if and how this group should be applied to a product:

Creating an attribute group

1.    In the Back Office, go to Catalog > Attributes and groups.
2.    Click Add attributes group.
3.    In the Name field, type the name used in the Back Office (e.g., “colors”).
4.    In the Public name field, type the name to be displayed on the Front Office (e.g., “Colors”).
5.    Click either language flag to open the language box, and select another language.
6.    Type the translations (e.g., “couleurs” and “Couleurs”).
7.    Click Save.

Adding attributes to a group

Next, we can add attributes to a group we’ve created:

1.    In the Back Office > Catalog > Attributes and groups, click Add attribute.
2.    In the Name field, type the name of the attribute (e.g., “Blue”).
3.    In the Group drop-down list, select the name of its attribute group (e.g., “colors”).
4.    Click the language flag, then type the Name translation (e.g., “Bleu”).
5.    Click Save.
6.    Repeat these steps to add more attributes to the attributes group (e.g., “White” and “Red”).

In our example, we repeat the above process to create an attribute group named “quantity” and add to it the attributes “1 pc.”, “Pack of 5”, and “Pack of 10”:

After having created the necessary attribute groups and their attributes, we can combine them to create different versions of a single product: This is complted in the products attributes
